Hundreds of Rabbis & Synagogue Leaders Rally Against the Iran Nuclear Deal
Iran Deal with Senator Cory Booker Dear OU Partner, View Photo Gallery Today, the Orthodox Union brought hundreds of rabbis, synagogue and community leaders from across the country--representing tens of thousands of members of the Jewish community--to Capitol Hill to call on Congress to reject the bad deal that paves a pathway to a nuclear-armed Iran. Held just days before Rosh Hashanah, the rally was reminiscent of the historic Rabbis' March in 1943--just days before Yom Kippur--in support of American and allied action to stop the destruction of European Jewry. The group was addressed by Martin Nachimson, president of the Orthodox Union and Allen Fagin, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union; Rabbi Shalom Baum, president of the Rabbinical Council of America; Rabbi Marc Penner, Dean of Yeshiva University Seminary, and Rabbi Hershel Schachter, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University Seminary; Rabbi Haskel Lookstein of Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun in New York City; Rabbi Efrem Goldberg of Boca Raton Synagogue; Rabbi Kalman Topp of Beth Jacob Congregation in Beverly Hills, and Rabbi Lenny Matanky of Congregation K.I.N.S. in Chicago and Honorary President of the RCA. Every speaker at the rally focused on the serious flaws of the deal and that we--the Jewish community--must make our voices heard against this deal that supports a regime that sponsors worldwide terror and threatens the security of Israel, the United States and the entire world. Following the rally, the hundreds of rabbis participated in lobbying meetings with U.S. Senators and Representatives to urge them to vote against the Iran deal.
