HaShoneh Halachos for Tues, Oct. 6, 2015

89. Changing Teachers 89. Changing TeachersHaShoneh Halachos for Tuesday, October 6, 2015 Talmud Torah 2:6 A child may be moved from one teacher’s class to another’s if the latter is able to teach him faster. This applies when both teachers are in the same city and there is no river between them. A child should not be made to travel to a different city, or even to cross a river in the same city unless there is a sturdy bridge. Talmud Torah 2:7 If a man whose house opens to an alley or a courtyard wants to become a teacher of children, his neighbors (who share the alley or the courtyard) may not object. Similarly, if teacher opens a school next to the where someone was already teaching children, the first teacher may not object, as per Isaiah 42:21, “God desired for His righteousness’ sake to make the Torah great and glorious.” By Rabbi Jack AbramowitzProvided for informational purposes only.
